Bligny

                                                                      When Nature Becomes Painting

Jean-Claude Bligny was born in Couches, Burgundy, in 1948.
After studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Mâcon, then at the École Normale Supérieure d'Arts Plastiques in Paris (under Claude Bernard), he dedicated himself to his vocation as a painter. Gathering numerous sketches during his travels, he creates his luminous canvases in the peace and quiet of his studio, housed in a seventeenth-century Hôtel-Dieu.
Burgundy and its wine region are a particular source of inspiration for him, as are Brittany, Provence, and Tibet. The contemplation of simple flowers gives rise, under his hand, to peaceful and joyful canvases, veritable bouquets of the absolute.
His work, exhibited in prestigious galleries, is admired by an international audience. His reputation is now well established in the art world, and he continues to strive for ever greater perfection.
